Last Wednesday, a woman named Cristina came to the school to explain us about English Literature. The lecture took place at the Sala de conferències and all batxillerat students were there.
Sadly, she only had time to talk about six English authors. The first one was Arthur Conan Doyle, who created the character of Sherlock Holmes, and his sidekick, doctor Watson. The next one was William Shakespeare, the famous playwright that died in 1616 and wrote “Macbeth”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet”. Later on, Cristina talked about Mark Twain, an American author who wrote “Tom Sawyer”.
Then, she told us about Charles Dickens, author of “Oliver Twist”, and Roald Dahl, who wrote “Matilda”, “Witches” and “Charlie and the chocolate factory”. The last one was J. R. R. Tolkien, author of the “Lord of the Rings” saga.
I really enjoyed the whole exposition; I think it was very dynamic and entertaining. I learned a lot too. Cristina was very nice and funny. It was a pity we didn’t have time for more.
